About UsIn 1968, John and Ansje DeGoede opened DeGoede Greenhouses in Sumner, Washington. The DeGoede's originally raised cut flower crops such as iris, tulips, and daffodils. In the early to mid 1970s, their product line was expanded to include fuchsia baskets and primula. In our 16 acres of greenhouses, the DeGoedes are growing over 100,000 hanging baskets. We are among the largest growers of spring fuchsia on the west coast. We also have over 300,000 primroses available for late winter and early spring. We grow over 50,000 poinsettias for wholesale and retail during the Christmas season. 1.6 million stems of cut tulips are grown for the wholesale floral trade from about Christmas through Easter, as well as more than 75 varieties of annuals & perennials.
1982, Windmill Gardens, DeGoede's retail division opened for business. Adding retail brought on a diverse scheme of plants to DeGoedes, including poinsettias, assorted bedding plants, and a wider variety of hanging baskets for spring. In 1990 we added a florist and a new building to house our garden supplies. In 1999 we finally built the Windmill we had obtained from Canada as well as landscaped our grounds and installed a wonderous display garden.
The goal at Windmill Gardens is to make everyone's special day at the nursery a perfect one, whether it's a stroll through the garden, eating at the Windmill Bistro, buying all your tea needs and hand made jewelry at the Tea Madame Tea Shop. Pond supplies at the Pond Store, visiting Blooms, a full Service Floral shop, visiting Bella Ragazza Boutique & Salon for those personal enjoyments, whether it's hair, nails, facials or a yummy massage. Now the best for last is shopping at Windmill Gardens, for plants and garden needs and wants at our full service and high quality Nursery.
We have built our reputation on consistent quality, as well as prompt and efficient service, both in the retail and wholesale divisions. DeGoede Brothers and Windmill Gardens strives to improve and redefine the standards of quality and service in our industry.
